This turned me onto guitar in December 2016. The good– It makes you want to play with its gaming format. The disadvantages– Not many at all. I think this will motivate a beginning musician to want to play their instrument. The story of my progression with this went like this: I started out in my bedroom, testing out the app. My brother walked into the room and mocked me for playing an alternating slow slow melody on the E string. I think it was like E to F, F to E. that was just the motivation I needed to continue on. I marked my words, "you have to start somewhere." By no means do I consider myself a good player, and by no means have I used yousician consistently to learn. In fact by the 4 month mark I stopped with yousician and moved onto tabs, (now, I'm trying to move onto notation.) the tabs along with watching performances has helped me immensely. I can't say if yousician would help you get to the intermediate level (the level between beginner and guitarist), but it certainly gets you to intermediate.
  • Perfect

I love playing guitar, but there’s still a lot of chords I don’t know. I find Yousician very helpful in learning new chords and having fun at the same time. I began using this a week ago and so far I’ve already learned 3 new chords! This app also helps me to challenge myself and change the chords quicker. The best part is that I’m learning all of this for free! I definitely recommend this to anyone learning guitar. My only complaint is the amount of times I’m asked to start my free trail and I only get to play for a certain amount of time, then having to wait 12 hours to play again. But then again, I get to learn for free. Everything free is limited, right?
  • Learning first instrument at 30

I’m pregnant and have an infant. Ukulele has allowed me to de-stress while entertaining my little one. I also decided to learn guitar. It’s $15/month for all instruments if you commit to a year. But they charge monthly. Same price as a steaming app, but unlike TV this is interactive. I started on tabs, now I’m learning how to read real notation. Any level would appreciate this app!

I’m a fan of the “guitar hero” ... playing on the sliding notes! ... and it is great that I can keep on practicing until I get stuff mastered.
  • Great App But...

This app is great for any experienced or new players of guitar or any of the selected instruments, i have this app now for a couple months now and I’ve been really learning a lot with the guitar. There was one thing I really like the app after an update where the menu has changed everything as it looks now and there was a variety of songs created by other players using Yousician which I loved about it, but then another update came in and started to remove people’s songs from the “Home” section and Yousician started to add their own songs which I didn’t mind and then a recent update came in and now all the sections have songs from Yousician there’s no songs from other people. If Yousician reading this, then would you mind if you can add a variety of songs by different creators than just Yousician itself from the “Home” section. Thanks.

I bought a ukulele a few weeks ago and discovered this app and I love it. About 1 million times better than learning from a book. It’s fun it’s easy and it’s customized to your ability and the amount of time you want to play each day.
