Great learning experience, fun and easy to use, and it isn’t overwhelming on the notification side like so many apps of today. Great job dualingo!
  • Sign Language????

    By Alexis_Farrell_2017
I love this app and have been using it on and off. The range of languages is amazing but I wish there was one more, ASL. I love deaf culture and would really enjoy seeing some sign language on this app. In my opinion it’s a beautiful and very important language in this world. (goes for all sign languages, not just ASL) Otherwise, I’m very happy with this app and hope it can help me learn a language or two.
  • A Great Program, but the app needs the features of the website

I really enjoy Duolingo. It has been the best effort and tool I’ve used to learn a new language. I really enjoy it overall. That said, the review here is for the APP. The app is missing a lot of the core things that makes the website useful. One example is lesson summaries. Before each section on the website there’s a very brief summary teaching you things you’ll use in that lesson. I find this very useful and I wish there was a way to access it on the app. Secondly if you get things right or wrong, on the website there is a link to a discussion page. While the majority of these discussions are old, I’ve found them very useful for understanding why I got something wrong. Or, when I get something right but don’t completely understand why. It’s another feature not available on the app. Finally, I really dislike the “health” system the app has. If you make a mistake, you lose one of up to five health. This gets really frustrating if you make a typo. Yes it’s wrong, but making five mistake means you have to wait a long time to regenerate health. That or you have to do a considerably long “practice” to gain one health. You can also “buy” health with premium currency. The health system, in a nutshell, works like most pay to play type games. In the end I give the app 3* because it’s still got the core elements. It introduced me to the website which I love. If it got rid of the health system it would be a high 4* app. If it did that AND integrated the other tools I list, I’d give it a 5*. I recommend Duolingo, and it’s good to have to app for “quick” sessions if you’re waiting for friends. Stick with the website though for long term learning sessions.
  • Fake languages.

Seriously? Been asking for Farsi for THREE YEARS, an actual REAL LANGUAGE, and you add Klingon and High Valyrian? Is this a joke?
  • Awesome

It’s hard to learn a new language but this app makes it easier and it teaches how to speak, write, and read the language you chose. I love it.

Horrible. So Many Glitches, My Daughter Is 9 And You Expect Her To Speak German To An App? I Wish There Was A 0 Stars Option. And Why Lives? You Just Want Money, And That’s Why It’s Horrible.

Over all it is a good app to learn i have had it for 2 day but i have noticed that sometimes the audio does not work an once you add a course you can not remove it. I am doing a Portuguese course to get better at it ( I have spoke the language for my entire life) and sometimes i but an answer THAT I AM CERTAIN IS RIGHT and it gets marked WRONG! I report it and when i get the the question again i pit the RIGHT ANSWER, and it still get marked wrong. So those are my only complaints but in general it is a great app!

  • So helpful!

I am now learning four languages using this app! (Klingon, Chinese, Spanish, French) I love that you teach two fictional languages! (Do you think you could add elvish from lord of the rings?) most of the languages contain lesson overviews at the beginning of the languages, although I have noticed that Klingon dosent, which makes it very difficult. Klingon also doesn't teach prononciations! This would be so helpful. I understand why this would be hard since it is a fictional language, but it would make it so much easier. Other than that, this app has been wonderful! Thank you!
